As widely expected in the industry, it has been announced that Rod will return to the studio to record more songs from the pre-rock era. A source close to Rod has revealed that he will once again work with legendary producer Richard Perry and work will start immediately.

Rod said: “We’re doing another one right away.” As for touring, he said, “I’ll be back at it again next year!”

‘It Had To Be You… The Great American Songbook’ has been a huge success and certified platinum on both sides of the Atlantic. This remarkable turnaround in Rod’s fortunes – particularly in the USA where his previous three studio albums failed to dent even the Billboard Top 30 – is one in the eye for Warner Brothers who decided not to renew Rod’s contract last year. The album entered the Billboard charts at No. 4 and peaked at No. 8 in the UK and continues to sell well. The last Rod Stewart studio album to gain a platinum award in both the UK and USA was 1991’s ‘Vagabond Heart’.

‘It Had To Be You…’ has been nominated for a Grammy and Rod is expected to perform at a pre-Grammy party to be held on Saturday 22 Febuary in New York. The black tie affair is being held at Wall Street in the Regency Hotel’s Grand Ballroom.
