Rod and Penny had a night out at The Ritz on Sunday and Rod met up with ex Celtic legends Kenny Dalglish and Scott Brown

This week’s Rod Art

This week we bring you a special Rod Art featuring the stunning work of award-winning Scottish artist and Illustrator Jim Scullion who is one of Europe’s most sought after Sport Artist.

Over the past Few years Jim has devoted much of his free time to working along with The Celtic Foundation and also runs a weekly art class at Celtic Park with Danny McGrain and Tony Roper. An Exhibition from that class was planned and then abandoned due to Covid Lockdown. However, the exhibition will now take place later this year.

One of the paintings in the Exhibition is this superb painting from the weekly art class at Cerltic Park. This one is entitled ‘Grace’.

Jim told SMILER this week “The Grace painting was done in the class that I host at Celtic Park every week, with Danny Mcgrain and Tony Roper. The original is going into the exhibition that we have planned and will be sold off for the Celtic Foundation”.

Fake Rod at it again?

Not sure if it is our Vermont fake Rod again but a suspicious look-alike was caught on camera prowling through gardens in Falkirk Scotland this week

.And Rod was quick to let the Daily Record know it was not him..

“No, it’s definitely not me – I wouldn’t be seen dead in that clobber!

“You’d rarely even find me in my OWN garden. I’ve got Celtic blood coursing through my veins, but I don’t have green fingers.”

adding: “I’ll will give the Record readers one gardening tip:

“Mow your lawn as early as possible in the New Year. Remember, the first cut is the deepest…”

Burns Night

Hope everyone had a great Burns Night on Thursday after watching Penny on Loose Women

Wolfies whisky went down well in the SMILER office..

We even tried a Highgate Highlander..

60ml Wolfie’s
🥃 20ml sweet whisky liqueur
🫚 20ml green ginger wine
🍯 20ml honey syrup – homemade or store-bought, see below:
For the honey syrup:
🍯 120ml runny honey
💧 120ml water
🥄 2 tablespoon raspberry compote
🥃 3 fresh raspberries for garnish
Recipe:
1️⃣ Make honey syrup by combining 120ml honey and 120ml water, bring to a slow boil, remove from the heat and allow to cool – or you can use a store-bought honey syrup
2️⃣ Add one tablespoon of compote plus all other ingredients to a shaker – including 30ml of honey syrup – shake well and serve in to a lowball glass with the remaining tbsp of compote in the bottom of a crushed ice filled whisky glass.
3️⃣ Garnish with three fresh raspberries on a cocktail stick.

And great news for Wolfies fans your favourite brand has sealed a nationwide listing in Tesco.

Rod told The Grocer this week “I’m over the moon Wolfie’s is launching in Tesco and I’m planning on driving down to my local store to say hello to everyone working in there,” he said. “All my friend’s have been asking me ‘where can I get it’ and I can now point them in the right direction.”

The launch in Tesco would be supported with a campaign across digital and OOH.
