This week’s Rod Art

This week in the Rod art section we feature an artist from The Netherlands Gerrit Loman who did this painting of a 1976 Rod

Gerrit told SMILER “It’s an honour to be in the SMILER art section, My inspiration is I like this bloke, he’s not complicated and my favorite song is I don’t wanna talk about it”.

Wolfie’s behind the bar

Before the Celtic v St. Mirren game at Paradise last week. Rod called in Murphy’s bar for his tenth visit in 18 months and dropped off a signed bottle of his Wolfie’s whisky.

Lightning Boltz Action Rod

This is just brilliant…

David J McGurk from Lightning Boltz Action Figures makes Kenner style action figure toys and made this superb Sir Rod in his Celtic tracksuit

Rod was presented with his action figure by presenter Laura Boyd when he apeared on STV with Johnny Mac last year

David told SMILER this week ” It was made for him to be presented with on a Scottish tv show. It was a one off, and was really cool to see it in his hands on the STV spot”

Rob Brydon podcast

Monty Python star Michael Pailin was guest on this weeks Rob Brydon podcast and Rob toldMichael he was two years older than Rod and asked if he feels older or younger than him.

Michael responded: “I don’t feel on a par with Rod Stewart, I would never dream you know, he’s an immortal dining with the Gods.

“But I feel Rod Stewart has an image that he is Rod Stewart, just Rod being his wonderful self, which is Rod doing his wonderful songs.

“His sound for the last 30 years which is his voice in the last stages of the day. That’s his brilliant thing and he’s still doing it. Still straining his voice.”

The comedian then decided to do an impersonation of Rod’s distinctive voice, as Rob began laughing loudly.

However, Michael clarified he was joking and said: “Rod’s a lovely man.”

And Finally..

A Ferrari F50 is expected to make Over $3 Million at Auction next Saturday, A 1997 example of the decade-defining supercar that was part of Rod’s personal collection is currently up for sale right now on Collecting Cars.

Rod’s supercar was built in 1996 and delivered brand new to him the next year. The F50’s sculpted body is finished in the marque’s trademark color, Rosso Corsa, over a black leather interior. The car may be a head-turner, but its most attractive feature might be in the engine bay. There you’ll find naturally aspirated 4.7-liter V-12. The brawny mill, which is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, produces a fearsome 505 hp and 347 ft lbs of torque. Thanks to all that, it can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 202 mph….If any SMILER members win the auction please send us a photo!!

Plus anyone going to any of the Vegas shows from tonight have a great night and please send us any good pictures you get

See you next week
