John Ales defends Rod

After Donald Trump jibe

American actor John Ales has come to Rod’s defence after Public affairs advisor Terry Sullivan made a bizarre jibe during an interview with the New York Times.

Speaking of Donald Trumps re-election strategy, Mr Sullivan – a longtime Republican strategist – said: “He needs the constant quick fix of people loving him.”

He went on to call the US President “the Rod Stewart of politicians”.

adding: “He may keep coming up with new material but deep down he knows his fans just want to hear ‘Wake Up Maggie,’ so he keeps playing the same tune because he can’t stand the thought of them not loving his performance.”

John Ales said on Twitter “You leave Rod Stewart alone, you b****.” He was not alone as Rod’s fans bombarded Sullivan with tweets as they stuck up for Rod, One blasted: “A. You’ve just insulted Rod Stewart B. You didn’t even get the song title correct.”

Another said: “What a terrible analogy. Oh and get the song title right at least.”

Mr Sullivan has now tweeted: “Apparently I’ve awoken a sleeping giant. The Rod Stewart fan base. Sorry, I now realise it’s Maggie May.”
