Don Stewart

1930 – 2022

Rod has announced the very sad news that his big brother Don has passed away

His message read ‘It has been a devastating 48 hours. My brother Don passed on Tuesday at 94 and today Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at 96.

Like Don, the Queen has been a presence all through my life as a great unifier. A shining star that will never fade in our hearts and souls’.

As you will all know Don was a much loved and active team member at SMILER and a great ambassador for us, he was always proud of the magazines and calendars we produced.

Many of you will have met Don at concerts and SMILER events over the years and will know first hand what a gentleman he was and that he always gave his time to fans of his brother Rod who he was immensely proud of, Infact I was working with Don on a ‘Thank You’ to all the members that sent him birthday wishes earlier this year, sadly he didn’t get to complete it but I know he would be pleased to know I passed the message on.

Our sincere condolences go out to Don’s wife Pat, Rod, Mary, Bobby and all the family.

We will all miss him so much and are not only proud that he helped so much on SMILER but proud to call him a dear friend.

RIP Don.

RIP Don Stewart, you’re right he always had time for Rods fans and even spoke to my Dad, a mere 88, on the phone once. I have a letter to my Dad from Don on Vagabond Boys letter head which I shall treasure.
