Fans for years have pushed for a reunion of the surviving Faces, and now may be the time. “I’ve just been pleading for years and years for a Faces reunion. I gave up two years ago or a year ago, and now Rod Stewart is keen to do it, which is fantastic. That’s just what we need,” says Ian McLagan.

Rod, in an interview a couple of months back, said there might be a one-time reunion for charity. “Charity? That may be great for Rod, but I do benefit gigs here in Austin, and I don’t involve him!

“This will be my payday!” McLagan says with mock horror. “Come on! We’ll do a charity gig, yeah. But not just a charity gig. It gets ugly when he starts talking about giving my money away. He can give his money away. He’s got plenty of it! I’m the guy who ain’t a millionaire in that band!”

It’s coming closer to reality, though. “We just did a gig in London, funny enough,” McLagan says. “Ronnie (Wood) came up and sat in for eight songs, and Kenny (Jones) joined us at the end, which is as much of a Faces reunion as I’ve had in many a year. The people loved it. Woody loved it. Kenny loved it. I loved it.”

* WATCH OUT FOR AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH IAN McLAGAN IN THE NEW EDITION OF SMILER SCHEDULED TO BE PUBLISHED THE FIRST WEEK OF AUGUST!
