Rod confirms the release of a third standards album.

Rod Stewart says he’s going to release a third Great American Songbook album of pop standards in October.

“I’ve always loved these songs”, Stewart said. “I always had a deep appreciation for them, even when I was a teenager. Even Elvis Presley has sung many of these standards. So that goes to prove there’s no one too proud to cover them. I think we all have to do these songs eventually to prove our worth”.

Both of Stewart’s previous standards collections, 2002’s “It Had to Be You…The Great American Songbook” and 2003’s “As Time Goes By…The Great American Songbook: Volume II”, were nominated for Grammy Awards and sold more than a million copies each.

The third album is being produced by Steve Tyrell (pictured above with Rod at RAK Studios in London, where they have been working together throughout the summer) and includes songs such as It’s Wonderful, Cheek to Cheek, Stardust and Blue Moon.
