Rod led the X Factor hopefuls in a performance of Merry Christmas Baby tonight
Rod took to the stage dressed in a silver jacket, white tie and black shirt combo and looked every inch the star. The X Factor finalists lined up alongside him as if they were backing vocalists in Rod’s very own singing supergroup.
Not only was he happy to share a stage with the young hopefuls but throughout the performance Rod gave encouraging pats on the back and yelps of excitement as the X Factor finalists did their best to keep up with him.
After a standing ovation from the judges, Rod told Dermot O’Leary: “These guys are so good! I was pleasantly surprised.”
In terms of the singing, all of the final four sounded great and the vocals were really good. It was probably the best group performance of the series to date,
But when the votes came in the boy band Union J were voted off the show.
