Raymond Laube got a great shot of him in action in it and said of the show “We have been on a quest to see all of our favorite bands and musicians from the 1960’s before we lose them all. By far and away, Rod Stewart was one of the best entertainers we have seen in past 7 or 8 years”.

Talking about Wolfie’s whisky, Rod told OK Magazine

“There are eight stars on the bottle,” explained Rod. “And I thought for a long time that it was a nod to how many times Celtic have beaten Rangers, but it actually turned out to be eight stars for my children, which is a lovely easter egg for the fans.”

This easter egg also held another special significance too, as it honoured the other contributors to his latest business venture – his family!

Penny has taken on an active role alongside Duncan Frew Rod’s business partner and his wife, to share her insight and expertise in overseeing the look and feel of every photoshoot, in order to tap into the aesthetic and image they were hoping to share with the world.

And Rod’s son Alastair, was fully involved with the company all throughout Summer 2023 and beyond as he helped to produce digital marketing and promotional content for the company, all while studying movie creation and video production at university.

To Love Somebody…The story of Jeanette

If you are reading this it is more likely than not that you have seen a mini-video created by Jeanette “Aunt Edna” Poggioni. Who is this purveyor of these fantastic little pieces of Rod themed sunshine you may have wondered? On February 4th in Punta Gorda, Florida I had the pleasure of meeting the woman behind the magic and was instantly drawn to her warmth, charm, love of Rod, and her “no holds barred” New York Italian personality that is larger than life.

Jeanette “Aunt Edna” (think National Lampoon’s 1985 “Vacation”) Poggioni is originally from Long Island, New York and relocated to Cape Coral, Florida in 1999. A lifelong Rod Stewart fan, Jeanette’s first Rod Stewart concert wasn’t until September 3, 2022 in Tampa. As anyone who was there could tell you, the concert was amazing and this experience caused Jeanette’s love for Rod to intensify. Little did Jeanette know, her life would be forever changed shortly after the concert, and unfortunately, not for the good.

The Fall of 2022 brought the devastation of Hurricane Ian to Southwest Florida and Jeanette found herself homeless, living in her car and mourning the loss of her daughter Julia Anne, her beloved dog Gizmo, and her home. To fill her lonely hours in her SUV safely parked in various hospital parking lots, Jeanette discovered video making with the focus being on her favorite singer, our very own Sir Rod Stewart. Jeannete says that making these videos “Brought me out of my broken life and gave me the only joy she was able to have under such horrible circumstances.”

After sharing some of her heartbreaking past Jeanette immediately made it clear that the last thing she wants is sympathy or to be considered a victim. She stated. “Making these videos have made me happy, put a smile on my face and have even made me laugh out loud. I had no choice but to share them so others could smile, laugh and be happy as well.”

As of February 4, 2023 Jeanette estimates she has made and posted over 600 videos on Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tik. If you want to get on Jeanette’s only bad side, ask her how much money she makes on her videos. “I do this for my love of Rod, my love for his fans, and as my personal healing journey. Not only do I not make any money making these videos, I WOULDN’T take any money for them!”

Jeanette has made friends all over the world thanks to her videos and she is so much a presence online that she said when she was ill a few months ago and didn’t post for a few days she received hundreds of text messages asking if she was alright. With a tear in her eye Jeanette said “I can’t believe that this former waitress from Long Island has touched so many lives literally around the world.” With that, it is no wonder that Jeanette’s favorite Rod Stewart song and video creation is “To Love Somebody.”

Thank you, Jeanette, for all you have done for us and being the kind of fan we all strive to be.

A Penny Change

Rod told OK magazine that he has noticed a change in Penny since she became a special police constable for the Metropolitan Police back in 2021.

“I’m so, so, proud of her though. Absolutely so proud. I’ve been right behind her right from the start,” Rod said, although he did add that he had noticed one distinctive change in her personality since joining the force.

“Oh it’s wonderful, she puts me in my place,” teased Rod. “She has become a little bit more bossy, even our two children have noticed. Especially when we’re driving! ‘ Oh you’re driving too fast, oh you should’ve put a signal out there when we’re driving the car.’ ”

Rod finally sells entire music catalogue for a whopping £80million

Sir Rod has finallysold his entire music catalogue for a whopping £80million ($100million) after years of negotiations.

A deal was reached with Irving Azoff’s entertainment rights management company, Iconic Artists, this week, according to Wall Street Journal.

The deal includes his entire publishing catalog and recorded music, as well as some name and likeness rights.

On Thursday Iconic Artists Group (Iconic) also announced a strategic investment from HPS Investment Partners (HPS), a leading global investment firm with $107 billion in assets under management.

Lisbeth R. Barron and her firm Barron International Group, a leader in music and entertainment strategic advisory and capital-raising, acted as the financial advisor to HPS Investment partners.

Rod said in a statement: ‘This year marks my 60th year in the music industry. The time is right, and I feel fortunate to have found partners in Irving and his team at Iconic that I can entrust with my life’s work and future musical legacy.’

Irving Azoff, Chairman and CEO of Iconic added: ‘We are thrilled to welcome one of the most celebrated singer-songwriters of our time, Rod Stewart, to the Iconic family.

‘Our new partnership with HPS provides us with the resources and flexibility to make blockbuster signings like this one and to continue the success of our legendary artists and their legacies.’

SMILER reporter Martin Heidt takes up the full story

Rod Stewart sells his song rights for 100 million US dollars Rod Stewart has sold the rights to his musical life’s work, including all his hits such as Maggie May and Da Ya Think I’m Sexy, as well as some naming and image rights to the music management company Iconic Artists Group (IAG) for the sum of 100 million US dollars. As the Wall Street Journal reports, the music package includes ten number 1 albums and studio albums by Stewart, which have sold over a million copies. According to insiders, the rights Stewart sold include his solo career as well as his time as a member of Faces and the Jeff Beck Group. Irvin Azoff, the former CEO of Ticketmaster and co-founder of IAG, reports that he signed the agreement with Stewart after he pulled out of a potential deal to sell his catalogue with London-based Hipgnosis in May following two years of negotiations. “This catalogue represents my life’s work. And it has become abundantly clear after much time and careful consideration that this was not the right company to manage my song catalogue, my career or my legacy,” Rod Stewart said in a statement. With IAG, however, he has now found the right partner for his music rights, Stewart continued. “Irving and I are a couple of old hands and I believe we have mutual respect and admiration for each other. My life’s work is in safe hands with him.” With the sale to IAG, Rod Stewart now joins the ranks of such well-known artists as Cher, The Beach Boys, Joe Cocker and Dean Martin, whose music rights IAG has also acquired. As the Wall Street Journal further reports, since the coronavirus pandemic, many music management companies have sought to inject capital into the market, as low interest rates have made music catalogues an attractive investment due to their relatively predictable, steady returns. Irving Azoff’s IAG has raised more than $1 billion in new capital for future catalogue financings as the market continues to be an attractive investment. “Interest rates will always go up and down. Music is forever,” Azoff told the Wall Street Journal.
