There was so much talent on that stage last night

Pine Knob Music Theatre, Clarkston, MI, By Maryann Venier

We arrived at the show quite early at the outdoor arena. Weather forecast had said it would rain and I did feel a few sprinkles but that soon passed.

Cheap trick came out as scheduled and they were surprisingly good… But lets get to Rod.

Rod came on at 8:50 pm promising two or more hours. He was wearing a silver and black matching outfit with a white shirt, I was not pleased that he chose Robert Palmers Addicted to Love for his opener. As he has so many of his own songs that fans would rather hear. But I will say he did an excellent job of it !

I Loved hearing You Wear it Well and Ooh La La..
I can still remember him singing it with Ronnie Lane and Ronnie Wood with the Faces!

My biggest welcome surprise of the night was when he belted out Young Turks..which I haven’t seen him do in awhile.

I never heard him sing a more superb “I’d rather go blind” it was priceless..he had told the audience to be seated, while he sang a calm hush came over the audience.
At this point Rod thanked the audience for spending their money as times are hard.

There was so much talent on that stage last night that it was magic!! He brought back many memories and he did apologise if his voice was a little weak on some of the songs..but personally I thought his voice was excellent.

He came out for one encore which was Stay with me. I remember being at the Toledo Sports Arena in the 70s he came out for five encores! The D.J. told the audience Let the poor guy Go! I remember Rod looking exhausted but happy he delivered what his fans wanted.

Fans never get enough of him..that’s for sure! I could’ve listened to him all night.I met a few first timers at the concert and told them they were in for a treat. ROD didn’t disappoint!….77 looks good on him!

Before Rod left the stage he told the Audience that this was the last leg of his tour for two weeks as he was going on vacation, He also told the audience to have a Merry Christmas..in case he doesn’t see us before then!

Rod left the stage five minutes early..five minutes too soon in my opinion…I guess from the show that he just delivered he would be tired. But for us die hard fans we always want a little bit more..But I’m glad to be there “One More Time “.

Thanks Rod for all your efforts and always going the Extra mile for your fans.
