Rod The Movie

Who do you think would make a good Rod?

Rod has said again he wants to follow in the footsteps of Elton John and Freddie Mercury by having a film made of his life.

On Radio 2 this week Steve Wright suggested Rhys Ifans, who made his name as scruffy housemate Spike in the 1999 hit Notting Hill would make a good Rod
Answering Rod said “Yeah, Rhys would be a very good idea. [But] he has got to do something with his barnet.”

Rod also said “Alastair [his son] has offered to play me when I was 14 as there is a remarkable similarity.

Last year, Elton’s story was told in Rocketman, starring Taron Egerton, while freddie and his band Queen’s career were put on the big screen in Bohemian Rhapsody in 2018, which starred Rami Malik as the singer, a role that won him an Oscar.

Rod was Impressed with Bohemian Rhapsody saying “But I tell you what, the Freddie Mercury one was so good. It was rock and roll. It would be hard to get something better than that but I would give it a shot.”

Although he recently had a different view of Rocketman saying it was “not very flattering”, ‘I don’t think this quite lived up to it.’ He also called some of the dancing ‘a bit Mamma Mia’.

So who do you think would make a good Rod?..our suggestions would include American actor Adrien Brody who received widespread recognition and acclaim after starring in Roman Polanski’s The Pianist (2002), or maybe English rooster Teeth actor Gavin Free ?
