Rod Stewart The song

From ‘A Tenner’ By Jengi

Among the recent gems found by Benny Kokkonen on our ‘Cruel But fair’ message board was a track by a band called Jengi a band based in Switzerland who have a great lead singer who can in Benny’s words sing like ZZ Top!

The track is taken from the bands vinyl album ‘A Tenner’ and the has the brilliant title ‘Rod Stewart’

With a title like that we had to contact the band and find out the story behind the song..

Chris from Jengi told SMILER “We’re all massively into the Faces and had this endless (and a bit pointless) banter about who’s the coolest in the Faces. But we came up with a brilliant idea: Tex went home with the order of writing a song called “Ronnie Lane” and I went home with the task of writing “Rod Stewart”. The better song wins hence we would finally know who’s the coolest! Now the song “Rod Stewart” turned out that good that we’re still waiting to hear “Ronnie Lane”… 🙂 Probably on Album No 2… plus we all agreed on our favourite bit: the slide guitar in the chorus is boss!”
