CELTIC fan Marc Gow celebrated his birthday by leading his heroes out on to the football pitch – and then received a special greeting from Rod Stewart.
The 12-year-old was selected to be the club’s match day mascot for the game against Hearts last week and was stunned when the international singing star recorded a special birthday message for him.
Marc’s dad John met Hoops fan Rod in the director’s box and asked if he would make Marc’s day extra special.
John said: “While Marc was getting a tour of the ground I was taken up into the director’s box.
“I was standing talking to Celtic chairman John Reid when Rod Stewart walked in. I had my video camera with me and asked him if he would wish Marc happy birthday.
“He was great and just leaned over and said ‘happy birthday Marc the mascot. Well done’ into the camera.
“We didn’t tell Marc anything about it until we got home and put the video on to watch
“He was really taken aback. He really likes Rod Stewart and I don’t think he could believe he had just wished him happy birthday.“It made his day.”
