We love to bring you the latest Rod artwork here on SMILER and we recently spotted this gem at The Brookestock exhibition in The Cooper Gallery in Barnsley
The idea behind the exhibition is What would a music festival made up of World Class musicians look like in Barnsley? So at the Cooper Gallery this season a vast array of bands old and new can be spotted playing in familiar locations in and around the town.
In this delightful and playful exhibition of new work, pop artist Terry Brookes takes us to this imaginary gig, a must for music and art fans of all ages.
Terry speaking to SMILER this week told us ” Rod was a late addition to the Brookestock repertoire as it was a commission I was creating and I needed the permission to use it. I’m obviously pleased that I was able to add Rod to the exhibition as he has made (as would be expected) quite a favourable impression on all who see him. His leopard skin suit seems to match the mood of the exhibition also, and he’s also wearing his trademark tartan. I’ve always been a Rod fan. I was a massive Faces fan when I was growing up. I remember Maggie May being the huge hit that was top of the charts for ages. I’ve always loved that raw, raucous sound that the Faces produced – Ronnie Wood always a firm favourite, from back in the Faces to his inputs in the Stones”.
Terry also told us “I can produce prints and greetings cards of Rod, and will look into getting them produced in the New Year. His title at the exhibition is Rod the Mod. Do ya think I’m sexy”.
