Here is our review from Rybnik, teamwork from: Heidi and Dieter Zinkl, Andrea Boeven and me.
After a great show in Hamburg on Thursday, Andrea and I left Hamburg on Friday morning, after a 12 hours trip by car we arrived in Rybnik in the night, it was raining heavily, so we stayed in our Hotel.
Next morning after breakfast we drve to the stadion to check the location. It was all ok, there was not much going on, only 4 polish fans in the queue, we got some posters to take back to our hotel, We waited for Heidi, Dieter and her daughter Sabrina, they arrived at 12.00 o clock, after having lunch we all went by taxi to the stadion at 04.00 pm. Maybe ten minutes after we arrived the doors open, we can really relax and go in to take our place in front row. and than waiting, waiting, waiting…..it was not raining not much but enough to get wet.
At 06.00pm a polish support band called “Manchester” came on stage, they were not too bad, I think they played 45min, and than we were waiting again , at 08.00pm Rod came on stage starting with This old heart, rain stops, Rod does his thing, but Andrea and I thought Rod was not in the best mood, not bad, but not his best, he only sings his set list, mabye it was to cold or the rain?.., when Ruby sang “just one more day” its sounds better than in Hamburg, her voice sounded much stronger, after this Rod came on stage and huged her, and when she leaves we can see tears in Rods eyes, it was a very emotional moment.
And the show goes on, no specials, I think, he only does his thing. after the concert we are going back to our hotel, had a drink at the bar, and go to bed early, we know we must drive so many hours back home on sunday.
some details of Rod’s visit: Rod arrived at Thursday late evening after the Hamburg Concert in Kattowice. He didn’t do any sightseeing on Friday because it rained the whole day. He booked 50 rooms at the Monopol hotel in Kattowice for him and his crew. He singed 48 balls for the concert, Rod wants to drive with a black Mercedes Benz s class, but the car was older then two years. he planned a sightseeing-tour through the silesian region for friday, but postponed it to saturday, because it was raining the whole day. …therefore the soundcheck was done with with the band members only.
