Rod has revealed the real reason why he has given up kicking autographed footballs into the crowd at his gigs — as fans who caught them were being mugged.
Rod explained on the Harry Redknapp show podcast that kicking the footballs had been part of his concert routine for 30 years, and his signature makes the balls collectors’ items, but then said “I had to stop — people went mad.
“They would walk out with a football and get mugged outside as they’re worth a lot of money.”
He joked: “It’s like an Old Firm game, really.”
