Rod’s classic hit Maggie May has been voted the third favourite pop song from the 1970s in a poll conducted by digital radio station Smooth Radio 70s.
The chart was topped by ABBA’s disco hit Dancing Queen and
the No.2 spot went to the rock classic frequently voted the greatest song of all time, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.
Mark Goodier says of the chart, “Abba have had staggering longevity since their creation 40 years ago, and this listener survey proves they’ve never been more popular while the eclectic mix of music in ‘Top 70 of the 70s’ reflects listeners openness to a vast array of different genres of music.
