13th December 1969 saw Rod’s very first solo album enter the US Billboard 200 album chart at number 200 ‘The Rod Stewart Album’ went on to peak at No. 139.
It was later released in the UK n February 1970 titled ‘An Old Raincoat Won’t Ever Let You Down’
To celebrate this special occasion SMILER issue 97 is a special 50th anniversary edition dedicated to Rod’s first solo album, featuring some rare and unseen pictures plus the thoughts of some of the musicians who played on the album including Rod and a very special look back on ‘Rod 1967-69’ by Mike d’Abo
