Amateur knitter Denise Salway from Penyfai, South Wales, knits character dolls, not working from any patterns coming up with the designs herself.
Denise has knitted this wonderful Rod doll and we can’t believe how much it looks like him
Denise told us today ” I’m glad you approve, I also love Rod myself I starting listening to Rod when he was in the faces”
We asked Denise to tell us a little bit about how she makes her masterpieces [You may know our very own Yve Paige has made a couple of attempts at knitting a Rod, so any tips were welcome!]
“They can take a week depending on the detail needed…I design from my head to the needles no pattern involved… just find a good picture of the artist etc they are hand knitted and I only have one chance of the detail for the face to work…sometimes it does come out how I want but not always… which is very frustrating..as I want to do a good tribute for the artist and fans …I’d love if Rod ever came across and approved..as I do it only to cheer up and give smiles and charity..I make no money just nice to create a bit of happiness”
