Rod is to feature on ‘Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed but Most Definitely Blues’, the long awaited Frankie Miller tribute album that celebrates the work of the Glasgow born singer. The album features both major Scottish artists plus unsigned bands and places the original versions directly along side the cover versions.

One aim of the project is to acquire funding, which will put in place the first of a series of officially recognised monuments in Glasgow to key Scottish musicians such as Frankie Miller, Alex Harvey, and Maggie Bell. This will be carried out in conjunction with Glasgow City Council and may take the form of pavement stones with the songwriter’s lyric inscribed in marble. Rod’s contribution is Frankie’s only UK Top 10 hit, 1978’s ‘Darlin’’.

Other artists featured on the album include, Billy Connolly, Jim Kerr, Maggie Bell, Jack Bruce, Average White Band, Fish , Andy Fraser (ex-Free), Midge Ure and Miller Anderson who contributes a cover of ‘In My Own Crazy Way’ the song written by Miller with Rod in 1986.

The album is scheduled for release in September.
