A cover with a modern touch by Shade Of Shade

Today [May 29th] sees the release of a great new cover of Rod’s classic ‘Da Ya Think I’m Sexy’with a modern touch by French duo shade Of Shade ready to hit the radios and streaming platforms .

Shade Of Shade were formed by Vincent Roche and Léo Miquel.
who met in 2015 thanks to the Vincent radio show. They started to work together and in 2018 they decided to form the band “Shade Of Shade”.

They released their first pop-funk single “Action” in June 2019, which made more than 300k views on YouTube!
Still working on their album, they decided to take their time to make something really good.

The guys told SMILER “But in our head there was this Rod Stewart classic, “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy” playing over and over, so we decided to make a cover of it. This song being so good the way it was we figured out the best way to cover it was to make something completely different”.

“Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” is a song from Rod’s 1978 album Blondes Have More Fun. It was written by Stewart, Carmine Appice and Duane Hitchings, though it incorporates the melody from the song “Taj Mahal” by Jorge Ben Jor and the string arrangement from the song “Put Something Down On It” by Bobby Womack.

Royalties from the song were donated to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Rod performed the song at the Music for UNICEF Concert at the United Nations General Assembly in January 1979.
