Large crowds queued down a high street in Epping this morning hoping to get their copies of the Rod’s autobiography signed.
About 300 people, including many SMILER members turned up to the signing at Epping Bookshop, close to the Copped Hall Estate, near Epping, where he lives.
Rod was taken aback when SMILER member Marcus Hunt a fan for over 30 years gave him a model railway book which was his late fathers from 1945 the year Rod was born.
Rod who was seen sporting his celtic style SMILER badge said: “I really wanted to do something for our local bookshop.
“Penny often pops in to buy books for the boys (Alastair and Aiden).
“It’s nice to support independent shops, too.”
Penny was on hand again to suppoert Rod.
