After gaining a Degree in Fashion & Business from Glasgow Caledonian University and working all over the UK in the Fashion & Retail industry for over 15 years, with roles at Vivienne Westwood, Creative Arts Charity ‘Impact Arts’, Boohoo and Nasty Gal. Electric Eye Apparel was created by Alissa Horan in 2018.

SMILER first heard of Electric Eye Apparel when the company was talked about by Rod’s mate DJ Chris Evans on Virgin Radio who is a bit of a fan of Electric Eye after Alissa made him a ‘Mr Blue Sky’ jumper which he loved and wore a lot, until it went missing… so he put a call out on the radio asking Alissa to make him another one. She jumped at the chance, and said she would even hand deliver it Chris invited her in to Virgin Radio HQ telling Alissa “I love what you are doing, how can I help you? Please let me know what I can do for you” he was so impressed he called in his production team and said he wanted Alissa back on the show the next day and he wanted to do a section on women with small businesses.

Alissa told SMILER today “Electric Eye was born from my love of music, lyrics, and the rock n roll icons who inspire it all. I’ve always been a massive Rod Stewart and Faces fan. You don’t get more rock n roll than Rodders! I’ve been wearing my own custom embroidered ‘Rod Fucking Stewart’ sweatshirt for a while now and get lots of comments about it, so it made sense to add it to my new collection. I’ve had a great response from people so far! All of my products are made to order and are stitched (by me) from my home studio in Manchester. My brand is completely plastic free, I use organic cotton and have a sustainable small business”.
