This week see’s the 30th Anniversary of Rod’s last UK Number One single Baby Jane
“Baby Jane” was a UK number one single for three weeks in July 1983 for Rod.
Written by Rod Stewart and Jay Davis and produced by Rod, Tom Dowd, George Cutko and Jim Cregan, the song was the lead single from his Body Wishes album and was his most successful single since “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy” in 1978. To date, the song has remained as the sixth and final UK number one single for Rod.
In the U.S., the song was also a big hit, peaking at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, The single also charted highly in Australia, peaking at #10.
Belle & Sebastian performed a cover of this song for their vinyl single “White Collar Boy”.
The Song is generally played on a weekly basis on Aberdeen’s Original FM radio channel.
