Big congratulations to our friend Wayne Jackson from The Memphis Horns. Neil Young’s album “Prairie Wind” has officially gone gold! “Prairie Wind” marks Wayne’s 71st gold record performance!
Wayne has been working with SMILER on a look back at the 1974 Buxton Festival and you will be able to read what he had to say in the new issue out soon!
Says Wayne, “It’s beyond my wildest dreams and no kidding about it! I started with the Stax artists in the 60s, including the Mar-Keys, and kept building on that. Every year I would wonder, is this the year the phone stops ringing. But it never did. And last year, the Neil Young experience was an unexpected golden opportunity, and one I relish down to and including the news that ‘Prairie Wind’ went gold.”
This gold record joins Wayne’s list of 71, which includes such classics as “Angel of Harlem”, “Sledgehammer”, “Roll With It”, “Suspicious Minds”, “Respect”, “Think”, “Sweet Caroline”, “Dock of the Bay”, “Soul Man”, “Knock On Wood”, “Hold On I’m Comin'”, “Let’s Stay Together”.
