With a summer European tour plus more Vegas and US dates photos have been coming in thick and fast this year making the SMILER team’s job of choosing just 12 months very difficult indeed, but thank you to everyone who sent pictures in…Those guys on BBC’s Countryfile have an easy job compared to us!!
As usual we have a mix of new and Retro and this year we tried to include some of your favourite band members, starting with our stunning cover by Tommy Kevitt
We are honoured to announce that due to popular demand we are being joined again by Bruce Kessler who stopped shooting Houston shows in 2005. but continues digitising the rest of his archive, and manages to find us some real gems each year, also back is the very popular Shannon Halliday who was on hand to capture some stunning photos of Rod and Jeff Beck at the reunion gig at The Hollywood Bowl in September, our debut professional photographer this year is Detroit photographer Frank Pettis who tells us he has been taking photographs of musicians for what seems like forever, and in addition to photographing almost every local musician that has played Detroit in the past 45 years Frank also has photographed many international musicians and even told us in issue 96 of SMILER how he wound up singing on stage with The Faces on April 18, 1970 at the Birmingham Palladium.
Mixed in with photographs from our SMILER photographers Yve and Tommy plus some superb shots from our members we reckon we have come up with another classic calendar once again printed to the highest quality by Galloways Printers who are celebrating their 150th year in 2020, using the latest state-of-the-art Heidelberg presses creating rich, accurate colours with sharp typefaces and high definition details. Once again our calendar will be printed A3 size on top quality 200gsm silk paper with a 400gsm laminated cover and once again we will have a special treat for the members who order early!
