As usual, the 2022 SMILER calendar has a mixture of the best shots from our very talented members plus some of the biggest names in rock photography. This year we are proud to welcome Brad Dawber. Brad began his photo career while still in high school in Orange County, CA. His love of surfing inspired him to capture images along the Southern California coastline. In 1972 he dropped out of Golden West College in Huntington Beach to take on a full-time job as “ad guy” and photographer for Surfing Magazine. This was a dream job for a young surfer and a great stepping stone. During this same era of the early 70’s Brad spent a lot of time shooting rock and punk music in Southern CA. He is featured on our 2022 calendar cover and you can see a couple of his brilliant Faces photos inside as well!
Joining us again is the very talented and popular Shannon Holliday whose work has been featured many times not only in our calendar, but also in our SMILER magazine. Additionally there’s Houston photographer Bruce Kessler (another favourite of SMILER members) whose work has amazed our readers many times over the years. February features the shot that is Bruce’s favourite one he has taken of Rod!
Our members have loved seeing their work in past calendars and they have done us proud yet again! In addition to all this, we have an exclusive surprise designed by our very own Tommy Kevitt and a great photo taken especially for SMILER members by Rod’s wife, Penny.
This year the calendar will again be A3 size, printed on 170gsm silk paper with a gloss laminated 350gsm cover by Galloways Printers in the UK
