11 YEARS FOR ROD’S LANDSCAPER

Rod’s former landscaper was sentenced to 11 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to several charges, including stealing the singer’s powerful Viper performance car and driving it into a canal.

Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Jack Cook sentenced Donald Michael Smith, 23, after he pleaded guilty Wednesday to burglary and attempted sexual battery in two separate incidents.
He was ordered to complete a drug treatment program after his release.
In July 2004 Smith attempted to sexually assault his neighbor, ripping the woman’s 4-year-old daughter from her arms before the woman talked him out of the attack.

Several months earlier Smith had driven off in Stewart’s Dodge Viper after the singer fired him.
The vehicle had more than $15,000 worth of damage to it when it was found abandoned in a canal several hours later.

In a statement to police after the theft, Stewart wrote: “Someone stole my Viper. I’m not amused.”
