Rod’s Italian vacation is over but the staff at the Ristorante Domizia by Pipero sent us this great photo from the end of last week and told Rod to Keep on Rocking!!

Xfinity Center Mansfield, MA

On Friday night Rod played the Xfinity Center, Tricia Jasper was on the front row and got a superb photo bomb off Rod

Tricia said ‘One of the best nights of my life!!❤️ I’ve been rocking out to Sir Rod Stewart since I could talk. His music has been the soundtrack to so many of my most important memories. Always my favorite!! Sitting in the front row was literally a dream come true. Thanks for an amazing evening Sir Rod Stewart!!❤️‘

Mohegan Sun Arena Uncasville, CT

Saturday night saw Rod at the Mohegan Sun Arena Uncasville, Joanne Ackerman Rousseau took these shots and told SMILER ‘This man… bigger than life!!’

And Jack Benas took this amazing shot of Rod in full flow

And at the other side of the stage was Kimberly Sollitt who got us another cracking shot!

PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel, NJ

On Tuesday the tour arrived in New Jersey at the PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel and 503 Safety Consultants were on hand to get these great photos

And Former U.S. Ambassador to the UN, 116th Governor of South Carolina, and Founder of Stand for America Nikki Haley had a photo taken with Rod saying That moment when you meet someone you grew up listening to and are completely starstruck. I think I said something like “I listen to you when I run” or “I like your shirt.”.

Hard Rock Cafe Memorabilia #10

This week in the Hard Rock Cafe section we visit Singapore, Gabriel Fernando Blanco spotted a football donated by Rod on a visit to Hard Rock Cafe Sentosa in 2016.

Gabriel said ‘Only Rod Stewart can be identified as a rock star… through a soccer ball!’

Sheering Lower Road is repaired!

A road that received national attention after Rod formed a works gang to resurface it is finally free of potholes.

Sheering Lower Road, which runs from the outskirts of Harlow to Sawbridgeworth, has now been resurfaced by Essex County Council. Residents believe the publicity helped prompt the council to act.

This Weeks Rod Art

This week we bring you something a bit different, not a likeness of Rod but a stunning painting inspired by one of Rod’s lyrics.

Tracey Vernon is a Maryland/Florida based mixed-media artist and she told SMILER this week about how the painting was inspired ..

‘My husband and I love the song Mandolin Wind and the happy memories associated with it. The gallery I sell my art in Maryland was doing an exhibit that was called, “Inspired by lyrics”, and it was the first song I thought of! I played it repeatedly while I painted it and the feelings it brought to me are symbolised by the movement from the mandolin and into the world swirling all around us with color. My favorite lines are when he talks about not having much but his steel guitar and what he had was hers. Then he says he knew she didn’t play, but he’d teach her one day, because “I love ya”! The mandolin in this song is magical and I wanted this mixed-media piece symbolise that spell like a magic wand!’

SMILER members may remember a story we ran about the best window display we had ever seen in Penge a few years back, It featured a few Rock Stars including Rod well ‘Rod’ has just come up for sale on eBay.

Derek Huck who made Rod told SMILER this week “I made Rod for a shop window display in Penge SE20 where I work called Designer Drapes we did a rock star Penge rocks theme, I’m the upholster there and I make all kinds of things, I’ve been a Rod fan all my life I’m 62 now, I was a drummer in the 80s and taught by Ernie O’malley who is a former Rod drummer in the Hoochie Coochie men, The public loved the display and sent pictures up to the SMILER site, I also made, Bowie and Elton, which I sold for a lot more!”

I heard a rumour

I heard a rumour from the post office that issue 101 of SMILER will finally start to be mailed out by the end of next week after a few issues with members addresses [Come on who didn’t check?]..Oh, and Rod is trying to organise a visit into his favourite radio station talkSport in September..funnily enough you can read about his last visit in Issue 101 of SMILER!

And Finally..

Rod’s son Alastair or Ali as we know him at SMILER, posted this wonderful photo with his dad this week and Ruby posted a full family photo and thanked her ‘incredible’ step-mother Penny, for organising the holiday and ‘getting everyone together’ Ruby captioned her set of photos ‘I don’t know where I’d be with out you lot.’ If you have a photo taken with Rod we would love to see it here on SMILER.
