Rod defends Wayne Rooney

We all make mistakes’

Rod has defended footballer Wayne Rooney after his recent drink-driving arrest, claiming the Everton forward is ‘still a great influence on all the youngsters’.

Rod was filmed by TMZ leaving Catch restaurant in Los Angeles and as his car stopped so he could talk to fans and sign autographs, he was asked by a reporter about the ex-England and Manchester United captain’s recent arrest and Rod defended him, saying ‘He’s been a credit to English football and we all make mistakes, He’s still a great guy…’He’s a great influence on all the youngsters in England playing football.’

As Rod drove off he let out a cry of ‘Up the Celtic!
