SMILER has brought you many Rod inspired works of art over the years but never a Rod inspired fashion range, We spotted a fantastic coat that designer Hannah Holdsworth who is final year student in Northumbria had designed and got in touch to find out more about her amazing work..
Hannah told SMILER ‘ I’ve always enjoyed Rods music thanks to my parents but I first got inspired by Rod last summer after reading his autobiography. This lead to a little bit of an obsession and my Graduate collection concept being born’.
“MY LOVER” Is a print heavy menswear collection taking inspiration from rock god, Sir Rod Stewart. The collection reflects the romanticised mood of 1970’s Rod while combining juxtaposing influences of Rods Scottish heritage and a long-standing love of Celtic football club. The collection has a strong attitude that is reflected throughout with textured graphic screen printing using forceful bold colours and fluid marbled prints, garment silhouette has a sportswear feel with a mix of tailoring.
Due to COVID-19 unfortunately I’ve had to put my physical collection on hold and work mostly digitally which has been hard for me as a screen printer but once lockdown is lifted there are a-lot more Rod inspired outfits to come!”
On the montage you can see a few images form Hannah’s collection, Including the fantastic coat and her second outfit which is inspired by 70’s Celtic uniform, also a crest that Hannah designed that has been translated into embroidery that combines both her and Rods family crest.
We are sure you will love seeing this stunning collection from Hannah Holdsworth.. definitely a name you will hear more of in the future.
