I didn’t think it could get any better..It did!!

Sheffield Motorpoint Arena 23/6/13 Review by Susan Lawton

After seeing Rod in Manchester with my dear mum and sisters I didn’t think it could get any better, but I have to say it did. So, armed with tickets for the 7th row ( I had to make sure he had a good view ), I went along with my husband and really wanted him to understand why I’ve been raving about him for over 40 years ( Rod, not him ) !

I must admit that when I saw the set list from Birmingham I was a bit disappointed that he wasn’t coming on with Can’t Stop Me Now but all was forgiven as he belted out This Old Heart Of Mine, a perfect build up to You Wear it Well, followed by Having A Party ( never been a favourite, but he sang it well ) and then went onto Tonights The Night which we love.

Rod was smiling throughout, laughing and joking with his fans and at times seemed quite overwhelmed and just looked so happy and contented like I’ve never seen him before and especially when we knew all the words to She Makes Me Happy and he didn’t! Would have loved him to sing Sexual Religion though – maybe next Time!

So difficult to choose the best song of the night – but First Cut, Maggie and Baby Jane went down a storm, and Rhythm of My Heart was especially poignant, and what a treat to have him sing Georgie and Gasolene Alley along with the lovely Brighton Beach . I loved them all and we all had fun singing to Sexy and carried on when he had left the stage. What a fantastic night.

The man is ageless and timeless – a true gent and a legend, that’s why we love him and I’m pleased to say my husband thinks so too !
