Danny Dzialo makes his living as a Rod tribute act in America going under the name DannyD.
Danny has now decided to release his own cd titled “Still Got the Boy in Me,” a 10-song collection featuring some outstanding guest stars and produced by Howling Diablos frontman Tino Gross. Danny has also recorded his version of Rod’s classic ‘You Wear It Well’
Danny told SMILER, “Ya,I was working on my cd for a few years with Robyn Robins of the Silver Bullet Band and he actually suggest we record ‘You Wear lt Well because it was one of Rod’s favourites, I was going to use Forever Young and Gasoline Alley which we also did but I will put those out on the next cd.
Danny D’s tribute to Rod has played many different venues including the Playboy Mansion where he played with Paul Stanley from Kiss And he can boast that Gene Simmons once mistook him for the real Rod.he will be returning to play with Steve Tyler at the mansion in May, he also won the best tribute band Reel award in the Las Vegas last year.
Over the years in performing the tribute, he’s made many friends, so when it came time to make the CD he called in a few favours. ”I also have saxophonist Alto Reed, guitarist Drew Abbott and vocalist Shaun Murphy from the Silver Bullet Band on the cd, and me and Mark Farner from Grand Funk Railroad do a duet, and I have a rapper by the name of Hush, Jimmy Bones from The Kid Rock Band and the famous blues man Johnny Bassett form Detroit”, said Danny.
As well as recording ‘You Wear It Well’ Danny also joined Rod on stage at the DTE Energy Theatre in August 2008.
