SMILER would like to congratulate Rod and Penny who sealed their marriage with a massive £125’000 diamond ring yesterday…
…and then went for a coffee.
The happy couple were married in a low-key civil ceremony on the Italian riviera.
Afterwards they headed to a stunning converted Abbey in the exclusive Portofino resort nearby for a blessing.
Rod and Penny strolled into the Villa Durazzo town hall in the tiny Italian port of Santa Margherita at 10am for their ceremony before just two witnesses.
They had arrived at the harbour minutes before on a boarding launch after being brought over from their hired yacht, the £120’000-a-week Lady Ann Magee.
Penny looked gorgeous in a simple white mini dress while Rod wore a cream jacket with navy and white pin-striped trousers and brown and white shoes.
After the short ceremony the happy couple posed in the villa’s gardens for privately hired photographers before strolling back to the harbour.
When asked how he was feeling, Rod smiled and gave a thumbs-up sign before taking Penny into his arms and giving her a kiss.
They enjoyed a coffee in a street cafe before heading back to the 12-berth luxury yacht which was decorated with red balloons.
The official who married the couple, Maria Grazia Benazzi, said: “The only people present were the bride, groom and two witnesses. Mr Stewart gave his new wife a huge white diamond ring.”
Later Rod came off the yacht dressed in a powder blue suit and headed to nearby Cerverara Abbey where he was joined by close family and friends and headed off for the reception.
