Rod will be on the Dutch TV show College Tour on NTR

On Friday, September 4th a new season of NTR’s College Tour starts. Presenter Twan Huys unveiled on Monday at Giel Beelen on 3FM the new guests for the coming season: actress Halina Reijn, politician Jeroen Dijsselbloem, Brabants famous singer Guus Meeuwis and Rod.

Since its first broadcast in 2007 dozens of high-profile guests have featured on college tour including Bill Gates, Sting, Whoopi Goldberg, The Dalai Lama, Mark Rutte, Malala Yousafzai, John Cleese, John Legend, Desmond Tutu, Robbie Williams, Shimon Peres and many others.

Rod’s appearance on the Show will be recorded in London in September and broadcast on 16th October

Rod Stewart (1945) was born in London and wanted to be a footballer. He played for a while at Brentford FC but early sixties, he began his career as a musician. He started as a street musician and also has all kinds of side jobs as a gravedigger, fence builder and delivery.

While he is acting in Twickenham Rail Station he is discovered by Long John Baldry, along with Long John performs with include Shotgun Express and Steam Packet. In 1969, Rod Stewart Joins The Faces. The song Every Picture Tells a Story 1971 does his big break and from that moment he is internationally known. The Faces had a successful period with number one hits in both the US and England. One follows after another hit, and the first four albums have been a resounding success.

But three years after the founding of The Faces decide to go the band apart. Rod Stewart started a solo career with Warner Bros. Atlantic. In the late seventies he scored the hit Do Ya Think I’m Sexy, which Stewart donates all revenue to UNICEF. In the eighties Stewart performs regularly with Tina Turner, and scored several hits. In the nineties he is less productive. He gave a free concert on Copacabana beach which attracted 3.5 million visitors. In the 2000s Rod returns to the top of the album charts. 2004 is the most successful financial year for Stewart with a sold out tour in the US and Canada. Stewart’s last album came out in 2012.
