No Scotland No Party

On Saturday Rod, Penny, Alastair and Liam flew to Boston to see Scotland’s opening match in the World Cup Finals

Alastair and Liam are attending their first World Cup while Rod is on his seventh.

Scotland are hoping to make history at the World Cup by reaching the knockout stage for the first time. Manager Steve Clarke has already led Scotland to three major tournaments in a row, but the team has never gone beyond the group stage.

Scotland are in a group with Brazil, Morocco, and Haiti. To qualify, they need to finish in one of the top two places in the group or be among the best third-placed teams. The easiest way to qualify is by winning all three matches. Two wins would also almost certainly guarantee a place in the next round.

Scotland’s first match against Haiti is very important. A win would give them a strong chance of progressing. Their second game against Morocco will be more difficult, but even a draw could be valuable. If Scotland collect four points from their first two matches, they would be in a good position before facing Brazil. Even one win could be enough if Scotland finish third and have a good goal difference. If teams finish level on points, goal difference, goals scored, disciplinary record, and FIFA ranking are used to separate them.

If Scotland qualify, they could face strong teams such as the Netherlands, Japan, Germany, France, or Mexico in the knockout rounds…but lets worry about that later.
Matchday One

Rod joined thousands of fans – including Scotland’s First minister John Swinney, actor Gerard Butler and singer Clare Grogan – for Scotland’s World Cup clash at Boston Stadium, Foxborough

Scotland were pushed all the way as they held on to defeat Haiti 1-0 through a deflected first-half goal from John McGinn.

The result sent them to the top of a star-studded Group C.

Remember the brilliant photo we showed you last week of the lights in the sky at Rod’s Hollywood Bowl concert taken by Christopher Mcsween and said maybe it was an omen..

Well here are another shot from Christopher ..Good Luck tonight Scotland

Paint it Black
Ronnie Wood has been ordered by Westminster City Council to replace his pink front door with a neutral tone, favouring black like in the Stones’ 1966 hit.

The council has refused retrospective planning permission to a string of homes on the road in one of London’s most upmarket areas. Ronnie and his neighbours have been told ‘incongruous’ colours ‘harm the appearance and special architectural interest’ of their properties.
Ronnie decided to paint the front door bright pink while keeping the front gate painted black, seemingly complying with council regulations.
Someone took a photo of the door and Ronnie was told you can’t have it that colour so he applied to the council and they agreed and told him to paint it black.
Pictured above is Karen Zitas with a very fitting cut out Ronnie Wood, We have not had a cut out photo since the Wolfie’s Rod cut outs stopped getting sent in, the Ronnie one is a cracker just like the Wolfie’s one

If you get a photo with either please send them in ..Long Live The Faces.

This week’s Rod Art
This week we feature a Rod Frowny Face Doll, Celebrity Frownys start out as 100% cotton socks, but then transformed into famous personalities with quirky bits & bobs.

Rebecca who makes the dolls told SMILER this week “This Rod doll was extra special to me because my father, Luke FLoyd, claims to have brought his music to the United States. My dad is his absolute biggest fan”.
Adding “I started making Frowny Face dolls a few years ago to show that people are not always happy so why should their dolls be? Everyone thought I was bit crazy, but they took off. I started posting a celebrity every day on my Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/frownyfacedolls/ and before long the celebrities wanted their dolls, The Rod doll was gifted to him after his performance at the Hollywood Bowl”.
