Penny was guest on a Valentines themed edition of Alan Titchmarsh’s Sunday morning show Love your weekend on Sunday,
As the episode began, Alan asked his guests about their own love lives, turning first to Penny He asked if Rod had given her a romantic proposal, Penny replied: “[He’s] just romantic all year round.”
“Ugh, hate him,” Alan replied before bursting into laughter with Penny and Olympian Matt Whitlock. Undeterred, Penny continued: “He said to me the other day ‘Darling, give me three or four days out of the calendar coming up soon and I’m going to take you somewhere special. I’m not telling you where I’m taking you, just give me three or four days, get the school run covered and all of that’.
“That’s the kind of guy that I’m married to. He doesn’t particularly enjoy – and neither do I – being told when to be romantic. So Valentine’s day is the commercial love, isn’t it? Whereas we like the spontaneity and we’re both very, very romantic. Whether it’s a train ride or up the Eiffel Tower, where he proposed to me.”
Wowed by the story, Alan repeated: “He proposed up the Eiffel Tower?” before turning to Max and quipping: “Bet you can’t match that, Max. I certainly can’t.”
After Max relayed his own tale of proposing in the Lake District, Penny once again shared another romantic tale involving her and husband Rod after Alan asked if she had ever ridden on the Orient Express.
“Yes, we did that for our wedding anniversary last year,” she began, clarifying to an impressed Alan that it was her who had organised this particular trip.
“It was a new route they were taking from Paris to Portofino, and we got engaged in Paris and we were married in Portofino. It had to be done.”
Rod meets Amy Pohl
Last week Sir Rod met Amy Pohl at the premier of EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, Here is the story in the words of Amy herself…
Last week at the UK premiere of EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, I had the most surreal, emotional moment. I spotted Sir Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster sitting right in front of me (iconic already 😭). I told Rod he’s a legend and that I couldn’t wait to tell my grandma we’d breathed the same air… he gave me a fist bump and promised we’d chat and get a photo after the show.
At the end, his security whisked him away in the lift and I thought that was that… but as the doors closed I heard someone say, “Oh no, that was the girl I was going to get a photo with.” 🥺
Then, outside… as I’m heading towards the train station, I suddenly heard someone shouting “girl in wheelchair!” over and over. I turned around to see a beautiful car… and out stepped Rod and Penny. They had waited outside hoping to find me. Penny said she almost came back up in the lift but was worried I’d already gone, so they stayed to look for me instead. I was in tears. The kindness, the time they took to chat, and Rod even offering to record a birthday video for my grandma next month… I will never forget this moment. Truly the loveliest people. ❤️
And the film itself was incredible… such a powerful, joyful celebration of Elvis. I still can’t believe I got to watch it with Sir Rod Stewart 😱 who looked like he was having the best time, dancing and laughing all the way through… just like Mum and I were. What a night I’ll treasure forever. ✨

Oh, Mary!
On Monday Rod and Penny had a night of comedy theatre watching ‘Oh, Mary!’ at The Trafalgar Theatre in London
Oh, Mary! is an uproariously dark comedy about a miserable, suffocated Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Unrequited yearning, alcoholism, and suppressed desires abound in this 80-minute one-act play that finally examines the forgotten life and dreams of Mrs. Lincoln, through the lens of an idiot (playwright Cole Escola).
Monday was also the birthday of Rod and Penny’s youngest son Aiden

MVT Award
On Thursday Rod was presented with the 2026 legend Award from the Muso Awards
All the awards are voted for by bands, artists, writers, photographers, and DJs from the UK’s underground indie scene. Rod accepted the award during his morning workout and sent the team a short thank you message.
