Rod Stewart 1975-1978

5LP vinyl box includes album of rarities

Rod today announced the release of a new five-LP vinyl box set called simply Rod Stewart 1975-1978. The set from Rhino features Rod’s first four Warner albums on vinyl and a bonus record of rarities.

All the albums – Atlantic Crossing (1975), A Night on the Town (1976), Footloose & Fancy Free (1977), and Blondes Have More Fun (1978) have been remastered.

The bonus LP is called Encores 1975-1978, is a collection of 10 outtakes selected from the recording sessions for all four albums. The first side features outtakes that were issued on the 2009 deluxe 2CD reissues of Atlantic Crossing and A Night On The Town while the second side offers five previously unreleased session outtakes from Foot Loose & Fancy Free and Blondes Have More Fun including a cover of ‘You Really Got A Hold On Me’ and the unreleased tracks ‘Silver Tongue’ and ‘Don’t Hang Up’.

The vinyl records come packaged in an iridescent box with Rod Stewart foil-stamped on the cover, his blonde shaggy haircut in gold and his leopard-print suit shimmering in silver!

“It’s extraordinary for me to look back on this era of my career,” Stewart said of the box set in a statement. “I think fans will enjoy experiencing these songs on vinyl. I know I did.”

Looking forward to the encore disc, Rod and Rhino finally came through. Pat and Nonclick will have to post a blog! Couldn’t they have given us a better album cover photo? Of all the great live shots of Stewart over the years, and this is what we get? JD

My Dear JD

My first instinct was “I love the cover” which proves you can’t please everyone!
Looking forward to the encore disc too but how much is it?

Roxy

Well, for those who either don’t do vinyl, or who do but find the price point a bit steep, the set is up for preorder on iTunes for €50.
Closer to the time we need to encourage all members to at least buy the outtakes to show that there is a market for that material. There’s plenty more sitting there.

Pat
That is a fair point but I do have all the others still on vinyl + a picture disc of “Blondes”
So will consider buing the outtakes for ÂŁ50 nearer the time.:-)

Roxy

Unless there is a different policy on this one, it should be possible to buy the five outtakes as individual tracks for a total fiver approx, without the rest.
