Sweet Little Rock n Roller

Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre St. Louis 19th August SMILER Review By Billy Peek

I thought Sir Rod’s show was great, of course I expected no less. Thought the band was well rehearsed, tight and seemed to give Rod everything he needed to perform. It was interesting to see all the costume changes by the girls and of course, as always by Rod.

I had a good advantage to watch and listen to the show as I was in the sweet spot by the sound board, it absolutely sounded amazing. I was glad to see the energy that Rod conveyed, because my home town of St. Louis was ready for Rod and he was more than ready for them.

I thought the tribute to Aretha Franklin was very nice and of course when he did ā€œSweet Little Rock n Rollerā€ as a tribute to my mentor Chuck Berry and when he said ā€œthis is for Billy Peek and no one elseā€, that was a very touching moment for me. (Would have loved to have sat in on that one šŸŽ¶:)

A lot of the current band members were in the band when I performed with Rod in St. Louis a few years back and in Vegas, so we’ve all become good friends. I think they work really well as a unit and all are very talented musicians. It was nice meeting the new addition on bass Curt Schneider, as he seems like a good solid fit and of course I was very excited to see my ole’ band mate from RSG, Kevin Savigar back in the band, he tickled the ivories with shades of Johnnie Johnson on ā€œSweet Little Rock n Rollerā€, it did my heart good to hear it.

And how bout that leg of Sir Rod, he kicked a ball right to me!
