SMILER 2018 Calendar

On sale now

As Rod has recently said Sir Rod and SMILER have been united since 1982 and things get bigger and better each year, and this year’s calendar is a cracker, packed full of stunning shots of our hero!

Adding to our who’s who list of the world’s greatest photographers who always enjoy working with SMILER are Lior Keter, Drew Farrell, and Bruce Kessler who join us this year for the first time.

Lior Keter a music photographer based in Israel who started shooting music in 2009. He’s worked with the leading music acts in Israel and shot the cover photo for Ivri Linders last album. Lior has photographed The Rolling Stones, The Pixies, Justin Timberlake, and many more and is currently working with NRG magazine.

Scottish photographer Drew Farrell has a background well rooted in editorial photography with over 20 years and his past and present regular clients include the Creative Scotland, National Theatre of Scotland, Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, The Royal Lyceum Theatre, The Guardian, Times Educational Supplement, Dagens Næringsliv, Mail on Sunday, Scotland on Sunday, The Scotsman, The Sunday Times, The Independent, New Musical Express, Bizarre, SFX, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, National Youth Choir of Scotland, Belfast Philharmonic Choir, Channel 4, Channel 5, Barr Construction, Tennents, Bauer, plus many more.
For more than 30 years, Bruce Kessler photographed virtually every major rock concert to play Houston. Bruce began his concert photography career in the early 1970’s when ticket holders could easily bring cameras to concerts. Bruce would buy a ticket and shoot from his seat until he crossed paths with Larry Lent at a concert in 1974. From that point on, Bruce learned all about access. Having never heard of a backstage pass – let alone a photo pass – Bruce quickly learned from Larry how to gain better access to the front of the stage by impressing concert promoters or road managers with his photo portfolio. With time, Bruce had made a name for himself so that he was regularly granted photo credentials. Over the years, Bruce shot for his school papers, local music magazines, record companies, and radio stations. Bruce went on to be the house photographer for the Agora Ballroom and eventually the house photographer for the Summit. The biggest privilege that Bruce received was to be the staff photographer for Houston-based Pace Concerts and its successive incarnations. In 2006, Bruce decided that the party was over and that it was time to turn out the lights (although an occasional flicker sometimes was seen in later years)!
