Faultless Show in Sheffield

Sheffield Arena 29/11/16 Review by Rod Tribute Pete McCall

A freezing cold Tuesday evening on the edge of Sheffield. I’m trudging across a frozen field £10 lighter for the pleasure of parking my car.

As the hour approaches, I’m wondering whether the great man’s throat will have recovered enough to get through the show.

After a great little set by ‘Sisterhood’, the moment arrives. Any doubts I had were quickly dismissed. Sir Rod was on top form and clearly enjoying doing what he was born to do.

This was the fourth time we have attended a gig by the great man in the last year. I can honestly say this was the best one yet. Even better than Vegas where I caught my first football – no such luck tonight though.

I feel so lucky to be able to perform my interpretation of the music of the one and only Sir Rod Stewart. To even be associated with the greatest vocalist that has ever graced the rock n roll stage is an honour.

The show tonight was faultless. He sang all the hits and a few surprises too. The crowd were on great form. As for the band -what can I say other than they were beyond superb. Sir Rod himself even appears to stand back and admire them and comments on how good they are.

All too quickly the balloons are falling and everyone of the thousands in attendance are singing ‘Enjoy yourself, its later than you think’ then its back to the frozen field still singing those words.

An hour and a half later we finally get out of the car park from hell and back on tarmac.

All I can say is that the man is amazing. He is my idol and I never tire of watching him perform and hearing his songs.
I’m so lucky that I have been blessed with a 40 Woodbines a day voice that on a good day does a passable imitation of the Rodfather (although never pretending to be in the same league). I am proud and honoured to be a tribute to my idol and alongside the rest of his great legion of fans, I will continue to respect him and his music forever more.
God bless you Sir Rod Stewart, long may you reign.
