I left Hertfordshire on the morning of the show with great expectations and I was definately not dissappointed.
I had to go via Manchester to pick up my son, we arrived in Leeds relatively early so we had a wander around and was pleased to see lots of SMILER’s, many of them wearing celtic shirts, Went for a couple of cold beers to help lubricate the vocal chords ( purely medicinal of course) in wetherspoons and was amazed at the cost, wish I still resided in The North.
After a couple of swift ones we made our way to the Arena where we had VIP package including meal etc and Block D row A seats 1 and 2, a very expensive way but hey to get seats like that it was worth it.The arena was magnificent and what a great view it must have been for everybody there.not a bad seat in the house, We did not watch Moya this time so we wandered down to our seats said a few hellos to some familiar faces and it was not long before the lights were down, curtains up and the Meastro on stage ready to give us all a great night.
The band were on great form as usual, love Jimmys saxophone playing and great to see him back with Rod, nothing unusual on the set list from the rest of the tour but all carried out and sung superbly by Rod who on this tour has been in excellant voice.
I really enjoy the songs from the fantastic Time album pity we dont get to hear a few more but I suppose he has to fit all the old favourites as well,it was good to listen to Ruby sing her own song and accompany Rod on Forever Young, you can see what a proud father he is, I am sure he had a little tear in his eye .What a great rendition of Rather go blind, he put everything into it ( wouldnt be great to see the remainder of The Faces belt out the old songs at least one more time).
The concert ended with a superb rendition of Maggie May and Hot legs etc, nice to hear Auld Langs Ayne to finish the show.
Great show with great acoustics and an excellent venue, hope it gets added to the next tour which I hope is not to long to wait for.
