Following David St John’s last batch of Rod The Mod stories David was contacted by Roy Roberts from the band Meddy Evils who bought the the old Soul Agents Commer van that Rod had drew all over!!!
Roy told David, I Just read your link re the piece on ‘SMILER’ on Rod and the Soul Agents. Here is their Commer we got off them (John and I looking cool)…..interior had Rod’s rude graphitti all over the headlining, doors etc….all carefully signed by the man….
The Meddy’s did a gig with them once and Rod was a really nice bloke, liked my jazzy guitar approach and we talked about his vocal timing…which is good… but he did have a hair fetish….backcombing…hairspray then….wait for it….loads of Sellotape to keep it up, so to speak. …that was in the van!
Roy also remembered the Moody Blues at the Blue Indigo mentioned in Rod The Mod Part Three, the Meddy’s made up four of the crowd of 15!!
