Rod who has been on the road since May performing primarily in European venues, takes the No. 1 spot on this week’s Billboard Top Tours chart. Included in the reported totals are box office results from one of the stadium dates on his itinerary, Tulloch Caledonian Stadium in Inverness, Scotland on July 17. The outdoor venue is the home stadium for the Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club. Over 19,000 fans filled the venue, generating a box office gross topping £1 million. The stadium, with permanent seating for only 7,500, hosted another major superstar in 2007 when Elton John played to 18,000-plus spectators on the stadium grounds. Other U.K. venues reported during the past week for Rod’s tour include Sheffield Arena (July 20) and Liverpool’s Echo Arena (July 21), both with sellout crowds of just under 10,000.
