Cheap tickets for Rod up North

Extra 500 cut price tickets put up for Rod’s Inverness gig

Extra tickets went on sale today for Rod’s concert at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium in Inverness in July.

Promoters CK Events announced last night that 500 “restricted, side-view tickets” for the concert would be up for grabs.

It will take sales for what has been billed as the fastest-selling date of the 2010 tour to more than 19,000.

Promoter Kenny Cameron said: “The initial ticket allocation sold out within two weeks of going on sale in December, so we have been looking at various ways of adding some extra seats by modifying the stage design.

“We have now identified a couple of areas in the north and south stands where people can enjoy the concert, albeit with a slightly restricted side view on to the stage.

“The extra tickets are priced to reflect this at only £40 each.”

He said that with the concert date fast approaching, excitement and expectation was building around the Highland capital, with many local businesses planning to “paint the town Rod” on July 17 to welcome the singer and his legion of fans.

“There is a buzz building up around the city, with many bars, restaurants, hotels and shops gearing up for the influx of visitors as well as a host of Highlanders planning to make a day of this wonderful occasion,” Mr Cameron said.

“The gates will be open at 4pm (on July 17) and there will be a wide range of catering and refreshments available on site.

“We would advise people to get down to the stadium in plenty of time to get through the entry process, find their seats and soak up the atmosphere and enjoy what is sure to be a fantastically entertaining evening with Rod.”

Demand is expected to be high for the extra tickets, which will go on sale through Ticketmaster.

They are available online at www.ticketmaster.co.uk or by phone on 08444 999990.
