Rod has revealed his desire to see his Celtic heroes progress in the Champions League and become SPL champions.
He also told This weeks Celtic View how his love of the Bhoys grew from a training ground chat with Parkhead legend Jock Stein.
Rod said: “I think we need to look at younger players from abroad or even more mature players in their early 30s because we can’t compete with what teams like Man United and Liverpool are paying in the Premiership.
“I’m glad we’ve secured McGeady and that we’ve got Hartley and Robson, who I think were instrumental in bringing the league flag home. They are the two best central midfielders in the SPL. I also think Scott Brown is going to have a good season this year.”
Speaking ahead of last night’s defeat against Villareal, he said: “I’d also like to see us reach the quarter-final of the Champions League and, as for the league, I believe we can do four-in-a-row. I think the team is in great shape and still very young.”
Rod said of Jock Stein, the first British manager to win the European Cup: “It was because of Big Jock that I became a Celtic supporter.
