Rod scroll saw decoupage art

Another amazing piece of Rod art

As you know SMILER loves to show you some of the unbelievably talented artists who have been inspired by Rod , Today we came across this amazing and different piece of Rod art that was created by scroll saw artist Mike Bruton who is based in London

Mike told SMILER today ‘This is the only Rod Stewart one I’ve done, I did a Paul Weller one a few weeks ago and I’m in the process of jazzing up an old table with 60s images. The glitter varnish I sprayed on his pink striped jacket doesn’t really show up in the photo, it looks quite nice on the wall though’

Talking of the great piece Mike added ‘Absolutely loved doing this one. Took a few attempts in the beginning to get the layout of the images how I wanted them. The first images I stuck down just looked too clean with far too many straight edges and I wanted it to look like someone had tipped a box of scrapbook cuttings on the floor. On the back I’ve covered it with every studio album Rod has released and the sides I covered in strips of Royal Stewart tartan. Rod was hand painted and finished with some gloss lacquer then everything apart from his jacket was masked up and sprayed with silver glitter gloss’.

We think it looks fantastic!
