Sweet Little Rock'n Roller

Rod leads tributes to Chuck Berry

posted by Mike Walton

Rod has lead scores of rock legends and other celebrities including Bruce Springsteen, Ringo Starr, Mick Jagger, The Jacksons and Martha Reeves in paying tribute to Chuck Berry after the iconic musician died yesterday at the age of 90.

Rod said in a statement: “It started with Chuck Berry. The first album I ever bought was Chuck’s ‘Live at the Tivoli’ and I was never the same. He was more than a legend, he was a founding father. You can hear his influence in every rock ’n’ roll band from my generation on.”

Ronnie Wood, said: “With the passing of Chuck Berry comes the end of an era. He was one of the best and my inspiration, a true character indeed.

And ex RSG guitarist Billy Peek who had played in Chuck's band and brought the famous duck walk to Rod's stage show during his time in Rod's band posted 'THE saddest day ever, in rock n roll'

Rod also played Sweet Little Rock'n Roller as a tribute at his show in Vegas last night, Kevin froggatt who was at the show told SMILER "He he did a great job. A great and worthy tribute. Rod said “I don’t think there is a band, or a guitar player — not just in America, but around the world — who does not know Chuck Berry. He has been a big influence for all us British rock stars.”
