Had Me A Real Good Time: Faces Before During & After

New Edition published

posted by Mike Walton

A brand new edition of Andy Neill's brilliant book about the Faces that Rod loved and commented “It's amazing. It's got a huge amount of information” Has been published by Omnibus Press

The Faces typified the glamorous English rock 'n' roll band that toured relentlessly through America in the 1970s leaving a trail of sell-out concerts, gold albums and wrecked hotel rooms in their wake. They still exert an influence over today's rock 'n' roll bands, notably Black Crowes, Guns N' Roses and Primal Scream. The group’s classic album A Nod Is As Good As A Wink finished at # 44 in Classic Rock's 2006 Survey of the 100 Greatest British Rock Albums Of All Time.

Forty years ago one of the world's best-loved rock 'n' roll bands, The Faces, formed from the ashes of The Small Faces and the Jeff Beck Group, featuring a charismatic, raspy-voiced front-man in Rod Stewart alongside Ron Wood, Ronnie Lane, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones. They offered a welcome antidote to the more serious excesses of the early seventies, being as devoted to the mayhem as they were to the music. This is their story

Andy Neill has written extensively about popular music and has regularly contributed to Record Collector and Mojo. Other titles published by Andy include Keith Richards: A Life in Pictures, Anyway Anyhow Anywhere: The Complete Chronicle of the Who 1958-1978 and The Beatles - Across the Universe: On Tour and on Stage.
