Rod Joins James Corden for Carpool Karaoke

With Some Help From A$AP Rocky

posted by Mike Walton

Rod shared a ride with James Corden to the “Late Late Show” studio, and sang some of his classic songs while sharing decadent stories of his time with the Faces in a hilarious sketch last night.

“The Late Late Show” was back after a three-week break, so last night [Tuesday night July 14), Host James Corden wanted to bring in some big names to remind everyone that Carpool Karaoke the segment of the show when Corden drives famous people around while they sing along to the radio is still one of the best parts of the Show.

Rod was asked by Corden about “the most rock and roll moment of his life,” He didn’t hesitate to reference his Faces years, with all the “drinking and a-shagging and a-drinking and a-shagging.”

The pair went through Rod's songs like “The First Cut Is the Deepest” and “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” then got a surprise guest in the car when they broke into “In a Broken Dream” – rapper A$AP Rocky. While Rocky’s was in the car Corden exclaimed, “I don’t think I’ve ever felt as cool as I do at this moment in my life right now.”

Rocky disappeared as soon as the song ended, but there were more Rod songs to sing, like “Maggie May” and “Ooh La La.” Corden also refused to let the car ride end before seizing his opportunity to run his fingers through Rod's iconic hair: “It’s a work of art,” he observed.
